At Visit and Poken by GES, we develop innovative registration and engagement software/hardware applications for exhibitions and events. Our products are designed to collect visitor registration data and sales leads for exhibitors, and then mine that data to extract intelligence for the event organiser. We develop the complete products, from start to finish.

In the position of C++ Back-end Developer you will reinforce and balance the Visit by GES development team and increase the velocity for essential functionalities for our growth strategy. You will build the best and innovative features for millions of visitors and powerful management functionalities for our clients.

You will be responsible for translating requirements into features in the middleware and data layer of our platform. In addition, the software that operates on the Ubuntu operating system are part of the software stack that you need to maintain with the rest of the team.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

Translate requirements into fully functioning features using SQL, C++ and other best practices in cooperation with the rest of the team.

Continuously focus on improving the Visit products by incorporate enhancements into current development and/or making proposals to the roadmap for larger enrichments. 

Being involved in the maintenance of the product by looking into support tickets and collaborate on resolving them fast and satisfactory in the product.

Being part of the second-line technical support/on-call schedule of the development team to support the Visit support engineers during shows, reduce the pressure on the other team members, to understand our clients better and to identify high risk structures/ components/features for maintenance.

Actively engage in continuous improvement ensuring suggestions and opportunities are highlighted to your line manager.

Ensure compliance with all health and safety, corporate, client and legislative standards across the function. 


You will be required to develop and maintain positive and progressive working relationships both internally and externally, in order to facilitate growth and integration across the business.

In particular, you will be required to work collaboratively alongside and provide support to the wider Visit and Poken development team consisting of front- and back-end developers, project managers, testers and technical writers. 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor or Master level of education or working experience in relevant sector/field.

Minimum of 3 years work experience in a similar role. 

Professional proficiency in the English language.

Expert knowledge and experience in C++.

Experience with Internet Techniques, Amazon Web Services, Linux / Ubuntu and SQL.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Hours of Work

A 40 hour week working Monday to Friday, typically between the hours of 9.00 – 5.00 (with one hour unpaid lunch). You may be required to work evenings and weekends during busy periods in order to meet the demands of the business, including overseas travel as required.
